The resume tweak hiring managers actually notice

Ratna @jobwhisperer here!

At some point you downloaded one of my job search freebies.

Maybe it was my resume templates, maybe it was my interview prep guide, or maybe you just panic-clicked anything that felt like a lifeline out of the job search black hole.

Either way, we haven’t really connected yet.

And I'm changing that today.

Whether you're on your 500th application, battling extreme interview anxiety (been there), or just keeping your options open (aka you’re one “Got a sec to chat?” away from drafting your two weeks’ notice), my goal is the same: to make your job search less frustrating, more intentional, and as short as possible.

My 3 pinky promises:

  • I'll send you one email every 1-2 weeks (and they'll be fun to read).
  • This won't turn into a relentless "buy my course!" sales pitch. Sure, I'll share ways we can work together, but my goal is to help you get hired fast with quick fixes (not generic tips).
  • I'll never email you just to email you. If there's zero value in it for you, it won't hit your inbox.

On that note, let's get started. Save this for later! 👇

99% of resume summaries miss the mark.

This is what a client of mine had before:

Why this didn't work:

Too many buzzwords, not enough substance. Phrases like "committed to delivering value" is a vague statement that doesn't actually say anything concrete.

No clear business impact. Saying “strong track record of building high-performing teams” is meaningless without proof of what those teams achieved.

The industry list is too broad and random. Listing too many sectors makes it unclear what their specialty is—focusing on one or two is your best bet.

Here's what we revamped it to:

Why this works:

Straight to the point. This quickly establishes credibility and tells hiring managers who they are, what they do, and why they matter. Remember, they’re skimming, so you’ve got about 6 whole seconds before they move on.

Proves business impact with real numbers. Every claim is backed by data (saved $80M in costs, delivered $135M in incremental revenue, etc.).

Highlights specialization instead of listing industries. By focusing on Fortune 500 and tech companies, it signals deep expertise versus listing a bunch of random industries.
